WAIMA SCHOOL: ENROLMENT PROCESS

We do our best to make sure that enrolment at Waima School is a happy, welcoming experience.

Parents and Caregivers of new entrants are encouraged to take advantage of prior school visits as this ensures a smooth transition to school. Please touch base with our Principal to arrange this and find out how it works. Pre-enrolments are encouraged. When parents bring their child/ren to school for the first day, they are asked to call in at the main office.

Our school has an open door policy so our staff will make time for visitors during school hours (where appropriate). If desired, meetings can also be arranged by phoning our school on (09) 4053901 or emailing admin@waima.school.nz

As per Ministry of Education requirements, we require copies of the following documents upon enrolment;

  • Birth Certificate - Regulations state that a birth certificate must be presented to the school to verify date of birth and country of birth (within five days of enrolment)
  • Immunisation Certificate/Record
  • Custody/non-molestation order (if applicable)

Hardcopies of our enrolment documentation are available at the office during school hours and can also be accessed via the links below.

Mandatory documents: Parent/Caregiver must fill in, sign and return;

  1. Enrolment form (including parent/caregiver agreement & blanket consent form)
  2. Digital Technology & Cyber Safety Agreement

Additional forms that may be applicable to your child/ren are as follows.

If you have any questions or concerns to do with the forms above, please email our Office Administrator or phone the school on (09) 4053901. Any completed paperwork can also be sent to admin@waima.school.nz

Our Principal (Jenny Colebrook) is our school's designated bus controller and she also does our van run. Please let her know if you need assistance to transport your child to and/or from school.

POLICE VETTING

As of 2024, it is a school requirement for parents/caregivers to be police vetted before attending any school day or overnight trips. For this reason, we're encouraging parents/caregivers to begin this process by filling out a police vetting form and returning it to the school office for processing as soon as possible.

To confirm the identity of the person being vetted, two forms of ID must be sighted, one primary and one secondary, one of which must be photographic. A list of 'acceptable forms of evidence of identity' can be found here. Feel free to print and fill out our vetting form. You can then scan and email the completed document to our Office Administrator - admin@waima.school.nz or leave it at our school office so that it can be processed. Hardcopies are available onsite during school hours.
